Recently, CAVU hosted a virtual Human Performance Instructor (HPI) Community of Practice event designed specifically for our HPI graduates. In total, 14 HPI graduates joined alongside 6 members of the CAVU team, coming together to connect, learn, and strengthen their impact as leaders and instructors.

A Focused Agenda for Growth

The Community of Practice was built around three key areas:

  • Updates & What’s New – Graduates heard about ongoing growth in the HPI community, new resources, and support available to them, including opportunities for continued engagement and recognition.
  • Q&A / Sharing Best Practices – The heart of the session gave space for graduates to ask questions, exchange ideas, and share experiences. A highlight included “HPI Sea Stories,” where guest speakers shared practical examples of HPI in action.
  • CoP Debrief – The event closed with a structured reflection, modeling the same debrief practices graduates bring back to their own teams.

Why It Matters for HPI Graduates

Community of Practice events are about sustaining momentum after graduation. While the HPI Course equips graduates with the skills to train and influence their organizations, these follow-on sessions:

  • Keep graduates connected to a larger network of peers who share similar challenges and opportunities.
  • Provide new tools and resources to strengthen onsite training and engagement.
  • Foster a culture of learning and storytelling, where lessons learned in one environment can benefit the entire community.
  • Reinforce best practices through ongoing dialogue, ensuring consistency and excellence across industries.

The Value of Community

Graduating from the HPI course is just the beginning. The real impact comes when graduates return to their organizations and sustain high-quality training, coaching, and mentoring. By continuing to connect through events like this, HPI graduates are not only sharpening their own skills but also contributing to a collective movement of leaders committed to human performance and operational excellence.
